About The Author:
Dr. Ajit S. Puri did his MBBS, MD (in Clinical Medicine) from the Government Medical College at Amritsar and Patiala — He received training in various specializations of cardiology, allergy and applied immunology, diabetes, and also neurology in the UK. He was awarded fellowships from the Indian College of Allergy and Applied Immunology, the Indian College of Physicians, the International College of Angiology in the USA; life membership of the Association of Physicians of India, Cardiological Society of India, and founder membership of the Geriatric Society of India. He has worked in several recognized positions both in India and abroad. Presently he is working as Senior Consultant, Department of Medicine, Mohan Dai Oswal Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, Ludhiana in India. Dr. Puri has presented papers at important medical conferences and published articles in medical journals both in India and abroad. He has also contributed monographs on diabetes, hypertension, emergency medical treatment, warning signals of diseases, heart diseases (in vernacular), urinary tract infection, high blood uric acid, and has given radio/TV talks on some of these problems here and in other countries.
Dr. Puri has visited the UK, the USA, Switzerland, Canada, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Holland, Austria, West Germany, Belgium, Italy, France, Luxembourg, many a time, in pursuit of his mission for creating mass realization and to widen his horizons in the areas of his specialization. He was also invited to Japan in connection with his mission. He has participated in important meetings, seminars, clinical meetings of the General Medical Council, London; the Jephcott Lecture and Reception of the Royal Society of Medicine in London; the Autumn Scientific Meeting of the North of England Neurological Association, and has worked as a visiting member of faculty at the Newcastle General Hospital in UK. Dr. Puri has also visited various foreign universities, hospitals — the George Washington University Hospital (USA), University of Newcastle upon Tyne, the Charing Cross Hospital London, the University of Sheffield (UK), the University of Colombo (Sri Lanka), the Toronto General Hospital (Canada), and has interacted with noted medical specialists on important medical topics.
The author has a wide experience of over a span of three decades in the early detection, prevention and treatment of common serious diseases. He has worked assiduously in various fields of medicine in India and abroad. The significance of his pioneering work lies in creating mass consciousness regarding some of the fatal diseases which afflict mankind.
